New York, The City That Never Sleeps

April 2017
Manhattan, Chinatown, Times Square and a few squirrels. During my family walks in New York, I tried to capture the atmosphere of this unique city.

This video, barely a minute long, nevertheless required a lot of work. I paid particular attention to the editing.

I reworked the colorimetry for the first time. On this point, I remain rather mixed on the result.

On the other hand, I am quite happy with the fall. My brother is sleeping, the music stops, the ambient sound, totally absent from the video, is perceptible: it's the end of the trip, back to reality. Followed by "New York, The City That Never Sleeps".

I filmed the city with a very short focal length (15 mm) which accentuates the perspectives of the skyscrapers. As for the characters (squirrels and family), on the contrary, I used a long focal length (50 mm) which allows me to have a beautiful bokeh and to focus only on the essentials.
